FX5200 choked when my bootable image tried to run Artemis.. Think you could email me at jgreene at greenemyst dot com I'd be interested in seeing your lsmod and your xserver logs to see what drivers it's using. I'd be willing to see if I can create a similar image with the drivers your using and look into paring it down to fit.. I admittedly didn't choke the fedora livecd I put together as much as I could...
and if you have an FX5200 working running wine and Artemis in wine.. I'm willing to put in the research to try and make an image template you can use...

Sure. Next chance I have I'll pull the beast back out and give you some real specs on the machine. The P4 was a guess, but I do know the RAM/Card were right. Also note, that when I said "smooth" what I meant was, "Artemis was running all 2D screens with minimal graphical glitches, however, it was also consuming 100% CPU." :P

I do have Artemis running fantastic on a WinXP Dell DE051 (circa 2004ish) with that same FX5200, 2.53Ghz Celeron D and 512MB RAM. Haven't tried anything with Linux on that machine yet though. That machine can handle the 3D screens, but when running the Main screen it lags tremendously

Blech.. I misspoke it wan an older PNY AGP vid card with 256m... not a 5200... my bad.. the image should work for you, although I would seriously recommend an RAM upgrade.

I see. Sorry I haven't gotten to that lsmod stuff yet. Haven't had time to pull the beast out.

And yeah, I need one, but don't use the PC enough to go buy the extra RAM. unless you know a super cheap digital retailer
