installing new missions

posted Dec 15, 2012 12:12:18 by Flynnicism
My crew and I were trying to figure out how to install more missions but after a quick google search we couldn't find instructions (if it was obvious the feel free to mock.)

What's the directory we add them too and is it just the server that needs to add them or all the clients as well?

I think you just need to add it to the server, in the Artemis/dat/Missions folder. For example:

C:/Program Files/Artemis/dat/Missions/MISS_MyMissionName

Let me know if you have any questions!
I'm not a mad scientist. I'm an angry one. You'd be wise to fear the latter.

Visit Artemis Command!

In the current release of Artemis Tre's instructions will work for most mission scripts. However, if the mission script has some generic objects with new 3D mesh filess, or new starships with new 3D mesh files, then they need to be included on all of the consoles. Every console has the ability to call up a "Main Screen" view, so as soon as the object is created the console will try to load its 3D mesh file. If the mission script folder doesn't exist on any console that console will crash.

This is not a bug, it is just how Artemis works. In some future release Thom has promised that the server will have the power to send the 3D mesh files to the clients. When that happens you will only need to put the mission script folder on the server.
"Damn the torpedoes! Four bells, Captain Drayton!"

(Likely actual words of Admiral David Farragut, USN, at the battle of Mobile Bay. Four bells was the signal for the engine room to make full steam ahead).
