Artemis for IOS!

posted Sep 27, 2012 21:35:27 by ThomRobertson
I'd like to announce to you folks, the Artemis community, that we're close to releasing Artemis for ipads and iphones!

The great guys at Max Gaming (http://www.maxgaming.net/) have been doing the port, and currently we've got it pretty much done, and just working out the bugs.

The ipad and the iphone version is the exact same; the UI is just different for the limited screen of the iphone. For each console, the UI has been broken into several sub-screens, that can be accessed by sliding left or right with two fingers.

The IOS version will be able to connect to a PC game! An IOS device can even be a server!

Stay tuned; I can't wait to make Artemis officially available on the Apple store!

I don't see how to download it from Max Gaming. Is there something special we need to do?

@Brandr, it is not ready yet "and just working out the bugs" and "Stay tuned".
Also, it can take a few days/week to get something into the Apple Store.

Oh, I guess I should slow down and read. I got so excited that I couldn't contain myself. LOL

I was thinking how awesome I would look this weekend sitting in my captain's chair with my brand new Starfleet uniform (THANKS HONEY!) and my iPAD running Artemis. I guess I will just have to be patient.

This is like Christmas!!!!!

I admit, I did a quick search in the Apple App store too just to check to see if there was a beta or anything.

nope.

Very awesome. Glad to see Artemis going to other platforms, especially mobile ones. I have my fingers crossed that an Android announcement is on the horizon as well.

This is fantastic news! Am I right in assuming that mods and missions requiring additional resources will not run on iOS - or is there any chance of mods still being possible somehow through iTunes file management? Dare I speculate a connection between this announcement and your appeal for missions to include in 'official' mission packs? Presumably these, through IAPs, will allow you to deliver mission-specific assets to the iPad clients?

Don't get me wrong - even if it's only serving up vanilla, an iOS version is great news and will assuredly result in a lot more play

That's fantastic news tablets are absolutely the best possible platform for Artemis. Doing a station from a touch pad just makes sense. The only problem would be having hot keys for your presets would not be there. Also my concern is the missions that people have made we wouldn't be able to get them on there. But still awesome to hear. Oh and please work on an Android version still exciting.

I wish they would beta test with us! Looking forward to playing on the iPad. When I break out the lap top for Artemis, I find myself touching the screen, as you know, the only thing this does on an old laptop is give you Cheeto-screen!
