DMX with pre-existing lights?

posted Sep 18, 2012 04:50:32 by JonathanPreston
So we've got two bridges here nice and setup and fairly perminent. I ran red lights all around for the proper "red alert" mode, in anticipation of being later able to toggle these in game. Is there a DMX device that just turns normal AC powered plugs on and off? It seems this should exist but I can't seem to locate it.

Do a search for A DMX dimmer pack, Companies like Chauvet and American DJ both make many different models. From 4 channel up to 16+. The plugins should be labeled with channels which you can set a DMX address to either with dip switches, or in the LCD display. Then plug anything you want in to them and watch it turn on when triggered!!!

Beware your power draw though, most Dimmers will have 2.4k channel breakers, or fuses, these should blow before your breaker but not always. Also be aware that even though you can set different DMX address to each plugin they may be on the same 2.4k Circuit.
