Artemis 1.66 is now available!

------- changes for V1.66 -------
Major changes have happened to support both custom input and custom output.

--(custom input) The keyboard and joystick mapping is now routed through a file called controls.ini . This file allows
you to change which key or joystick button triggers which UI event. Because all of the game controls are
based on the client, changing this file on the server computer won't do much good.

--(custom output) The Artemis program now interfaces with the ENTTEC Open DMX USB Interface;

This small box costs $65us, and interfaces between your USB computer port and one or more DMX devices.

The file in the DAT/ directory called DMXCommands.xml describes events that can happen in the game, and what DMX values
should be sent in response.

When a friendly ship or station dies, the nearest other friendlys confirm the death in a comms message

Observer cam got wierdly shaky; fixed

Several game sounds were volume or pitch adjusted

If the ship overcharges with too much energy, all engineering systems now start to heat up!

added scripting control of how much coolant you have

Stations no longer fall into black holes

All players now get an explicit PVP death message to the pop-up window

helm and client main screens can change ship name, hull type, and movement type.

beams don't all shoot at once

warp engines have some inertia now

Comms labels are now more clear.

So how does this update work and how do I run it? If I have an updated version, do I have to make sure all the other computers I play with are also updated?

Yes, dtumnus, if you don't have the same version running on all the machines you will get a warning.

Is this that black holes stop spawning near stations, or that stations remain stationary no matter how close they are to black holes?

Rawr! This is so exciting! Tons of interesting ways to make the game better.
I'm trying it with our kids at Church next week. If it works out I'll get the Church to buy a licence (maybe even two).

@Charles - is there not a third-party way to limit the CPU use? What about lowering CPU priority?

Hope i can get my crew together for this one. Looks massive, with all new built-in hotkeys and stuff.
Inertia with impulse/warp drives is very much appreciated, as is the ability to mix-n-match ship hulls and drive modes in one game.
Same goes for beams firing one by one, now it will be easier with those pesky drones.

Questions:
Mission scripting system file still shows version 1.65. I presume the only change to mission scripting system is the addition of "totalCoolant" value, right?

How does changing ship hull actually work? I tried two things:
1) On server i set ship hull to battleship, on client i select Artemis and change hull to missile cruiser, select helm and weapons stations, join the game - ship is still a battleship
2) On server i set ship hull to battleship, on client i select Interpid and change hull to missile cruiser, select main screen, helm and weapons stations, join the game - ship that spawns is a battleship

It worked for me with a second ship. I couldn't change the first though. I'm assuming once it's set it's stuck that way until the end of the game and since the first ship is selected by the server that's it.

As for changing the second ship, did you click on the "submit changes" button?

Yeah, i must have misclicked somewhere or something. Indeed, on a second try, it does work for other ships, but for Artemis, i can only change the name it seems.
