Launching a video

posted Jul 19, 2012 19:31:04 by GuyColumboWorthy
In order to maximize realism, I want the COMM officer to be able to do the following:
"Capt, I have an incoming transmission from planet X"
Capt: "Onscreen!"
And the comm officer could "launch" a link to a local or YouTube video of the transmission (instead of just audio).

Can I do this?

This would certainly be an interesting addition to the game!

Oh yes, that would be really cool. I will take it one step further.

What if in PVP ship battles, something like ventrilo and Skype audio/video could be presented to commas, and then presented on (main) screen.

I would so get more friends to have "ship to ship" visual communications - just kidding - I have enough friends it's just a question of getting them all in the same place at the same time. :-)

Currently the Artemis software has a built in player for audio files but not video files. Maybe it could be added in the future.
"Damn the torpedoes! Four bells, Captain Drayton!"

(Likely actual words of Admiral David Farragut, USN, at the battle of Mobile Bay. Four bells was the signal for the engine room to make full steam ahead).
