Router req?

posted Jul 07, 2012 04:40:12 by happywulf
I wanted to ask how I would set up a mission with 2 Bridges. I'm planning on picking up Artimis as soon as I get the thumbs up from my crew, and I thought it'd be a great idea to get events set up at conventions as well. I just wanted to ask that if I wanted 2-3 Bridges doing a mission together, would a simple 12-18 port router work?

Either a wired router with enough ports for each computer, or a wireless setup would work fine. The multi-bridge aspect of Artemis isn't quite as stable as I'd like (there are some odd glitches that occur).

We had 8 stations connected to one server via a wireless connection and that seemed pretty stable.

If you can, I'd use an 8 port switch for each bridge, and then wire them to another router with the server on.

Server ----- [Router] ----- [Switch] ----- One bridge 's stations
|
|------- [Switch] ----- The other bridge's stations (and main screen)

Not sure if thats the best set up, but its not the worst :)

I had another question/idea. With a wifi router, has any thought been put into the idea to use a Android tablet or wide-screenedsmart phone for use as some of the stations? The whole touch screen interface would totally recreate the console experience.

I believe a few people have been doing that. Something like this apparently worked alright: http://www.splashtop.com/home
