6 Ship Game Setup Help

Hi All,

I'm new to the good ship Artemis and have taken to spacefaring life quickly. My coworkers and I plan on hosting a 6 ship gaming night on June 9th with a full compliment on each ship. I wanted to reach out to the community in an effort to prevent any pitfalls of multiship gaming and try to create a game that is fun on that scale.

I've had a few ideas and wanted to ask if they were possible. Also other random questions.

1. Is there a way to script a game so the GM screen could spawn enemies at will to attack giving positions or stations. The idea being to give all 6 ships a cooperative goal of defending an onslaught designed by another player.

2. Have the ship to ship damage crashing bugs been fixed?

3. Are there any existing multiship missions?

4. Is there a way to turn off music on the server computer and/or main screen computers? Or at least adjust the levels?

These are the opening questions. We've fallen in love with this game and can't wait to experience it in it's full glory.

1) I'm not qualified to talk about it, but I think there are ways of achieving that. Take a look at the module_base3 mission that comes with Artemis.

3) Missions aren't really designed for multiple ships so I don't think many have been written at all.

4) If you press ESC on the server while playing the game, a few sliders to control the sound levels appear. :)

I think GM console would be the way to go with a 6-ship mission, allowing you to keep it interesting.

I believe there are some issues with mission scripting (and GM modules) for multi-ship missions. I believe this relates to the fact that all ships are defined as Artemis by the script (so doing any events relative to Artemis or to specific consoles can cause problems). It may be possible to work-around, and it may be that if you're essentially just creating an invasion mode that won't matter but I'm not sure. I know someone was working on a multi-ship mission but I can't find the thread. It will be somewhere in the mission scripting forum.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think a basic onslaught missions would work for the co-op aspect of the gaming. If there was a way to setup the GM console to spawn enemies I think that'd be the easiest thing to build/script.

Any ideas or script sames on how to do that?

The module included with Artemis (3 Bases) should do what you're looking for. It spawns 3 Bases and the ship and nothing else. Then the GM can add enemies, allies, transports, etc. wherever he wants to.
