I lack friends that are interested in these sort of games, any suggestions?

Play it with your non-trekkie friends! I play it with a bunch of distinctly non-trekkie types and they love it. You need people who are interested in computer games, but other than that it has a very broad appeal. Just persuade some friends to bring some laptops over and give it ago. But don't plan to be doing anything else for the rest of the day...
Hmm, problem number 1 solved.
Created problem number 2.
Lack of friends that like this kind of game. (I'm 14, but still totally ADORE this game, good thing I have my sister who likes to command me to be captain, or else I would never be able to play this game.)
I still would like to play this game with a full crew, and who understand the ST universe, I've been "studying" it since I was 8, so, hehe, problem.

Don't feel bad, I think people "in general" are just not interested in anything. I hate when people say "they don't like video games". Honestly I just don't relate, it's almost like people just don't enjoy life, and they prefer just to let it all pass by.
My advise is to be poised and ready, and keep your fingers crossed. I kinda feel "you can lead a horse to water...but if he wants to die of dehydration thats his accord, after all you're dealing with the mentality of a horse"
Like I said try to be poised and ready just incase, truthfully if no one ever took initiative, nothing would ever happen.
I would suggest pointing out that "it's basically a battleship game" but I deal with similar attitudes, people just don't like anything.
Makes me think of "Green eggs and ham"..."I would not, could not try a game...I do not like them just the same"

What you say is true. But I'm still to young to search for people to play this game with on the internet, and none of my friends in-general are fans of a little slower paced team based combat. Combine that with them not giving a shit about co-op games, I've got a tricky situation.
Well, my wife and i, we watched ST:TNG, she also watched some ST:TOS and i watched some ST:E, and thats it. We have star fleet uniform but only because we attended to one birthday party and wanted to cosplay something "spacy" since the one who had birthday loves Star Wars.
Just invite everybody. Dont make them appreciate the trekky part of it if they dont like that. This game has so many sides and is very deep.
* You can roleplay a ship's crew, unrelated to ST specifics. It feels very submarine-like actually, if you dont use main screen for front/back/left/right often).
* You can play this as a competition, take it to the limits, and become a "pro" team, and brag about beating high difficulty on a scout.
* You can play this as a cooperative pc game
* You can play this along with beer just to make fun of each other (our pilot gets drunk after 1 litre of beer often cos he's thin, and we often make fun out of him since he fails miserably) etc.
There are so many ways to enjoy Artemis! All you need is to gather together at least 2 friends for demo or at least 3 friends for full game (GM console for capitain as a substitute of capitain's map, man Helms, Weaps and Engi, and make wep do comms when you're out of combat). And you'll need enough PC's. Then - tell them how to play (takes ~30 minutes tops), and then start having fun!
goto - www.sfi.org - that's the Starfleet, the International Star Trek Fan Association. I know of at least three or four chapters that have become hooked on Artemis. If the local group to you hasn't heard of Artemis.... introduce them to it!
