Need 30 Officers for Fleet Action in April

posted Feb 15, 2012 15:26:01 by Justin
Hello All,

I'm planning an Artemis themed bachelor party for my friend Josh - he has no idea about this, and hasn't seen or heard of Artemis before, but he's a huge sci-fi fan, so I know this is going to be awesome if I can pull it off.

On the day of the event, I'm going to pick him up and bring him to a location where my local bridge crew will be set up and ready to rock. I'll give him a brief rundown and then give him command of the ship and the fleet.

That's where you come in.
What I'd like to do is get 30 additional volunteers to fill out all 6 ships in the fleet. I'll take care of setting up the server, and all you'd have to do is install the free version of Logmein Hamachi (a software vpn - I'll take care of the logistics on this.) and Skype (for Ship-to-Ship comms - your comms officer will be responsible for maintaining contact with the other ships in the fleet.)
Ideally, I'd love to see each ship made up of officers playing from the same physical location, but as long as you can all communicate well, that's what matters - if we have a bunch of solo players, we can farm them out to ships that are short crew members. Full 6-person crews will take precedence over partial crews or solo players, but don't let that discourage you from signing up - we'll likely need all the people we can get.

I think this could be really awesome, and a really memorable experience for my friend, so anybody that wants to help out is more than welcome.

The date in question: Wednesday, the 4th of April, around 7pm. We'll likely play until very late, but as long as you can commit for a few hours, that'll be fine. Once I have things nailed down, and the details worked out, I'll provide more concrete instructions, but for now, if you're interested, please respond to this thread, or email me directly at quixote171 AT gmail.com - please only sign up if you're certain you can play on that date.

Thanks to any, and all respondents!

Could be fun. I'd like to help!
If I'm working Weds generally off by 730ish so I'd be good to go!
I have access to Teamspeak 3 server which tends to be easier on those with issues with bandwith/ processing.

What's your physical location?

Awesome!

We're in Central Maine. (Probably either Augusta, or Belfast depending on how things shake down.)

Good deal - thanks Cmdr. Brandr!

AliciaG - do you have a crew that you normally play with? Would any of them be interested in joining you/us that night?

Thanks guys!

I'm trying to get a crew together atm, but right now my only crewman lives in Luxembourg and so would have a hard time staying awake. wink

I'll keep you informed as to whether this changes. So right now it would just be me!

That's fine - I'm sure we'll have more solo players than full crews. Once we have enough people, then we can figure out the best way to divide everyone up.
