New Crew: USS Brookway

posted May 26, 2011 07:40:19 by Captain_Edge
This evening, a new Artemis-class ship took to the skies to defend Star Bases and other Terran Federation ships. The USS Brookway was launched by its skipper, Lt E.J. Hunyadi and his officers Ensign Brendon (helm), Ensign Noe (weapons), Ensign Gelli (Comm) and LtJG Sherry (Engineer and Science) for some shakedown runs and training missions to familiarize themselves with the ship and its abilities.

The crew received its initial briefing from the skipper, and each officer received personal training and mentoring from the Lt. LtJG Sherry was already familiar with her stations and roles and turned out to be one of the most important officers on deck.

The first few missions were quite easy, but the last two missions of the evening were quite hairy with the skipper pushing the limits of the ship and crew to new levels.

All in all, the crew was very happy to make it to a DS for the night, and secure in the knowledge that they trained well and learned a lot.

The USS Brookway will again likely take to the front-lines tomorrow evening, and again this weekend as she serves as a training vessel for new crews who will be training for the launch of their ships soon. The fleet hopes to grow by two more ships this weekend working together to rid the galaxy of any anti-Terran aggression.

Two-Ship Maneuvers

Last night, the USS Brookway engaged in training ops with the USS Potemkin. Using the codenames "Artemis" and "Hera," the two crews worked together to bring the Potemkin's crew up to speed as well as to help them get familiarized with their ship.

The two crews operated together, working in tandem, with a mixed crew; some of Brookway's crew went over to the Potemkin, while some of the green bridge officers of the Potemkin came over to the Brookway for training.

The arrangement worked well. All hands gained valuable knowledge and experience. It was after a few training runs that both ships received orders to patrol and protect all Federation assets within their assigned patrol zone.

Immediately after arriving, Klingon and Romulan ships began harassing Federation shipping. The Brookway took the lead with the Potemkin keeping abreast while the two ships pummeled the enemies with phasers and torpedoes.

After coordinated ops for a few hours, the crews all came aboard the Brookway for one last mission. All stations were manned and the hybrid crew worked brilliantly together, bringing in many Klingon and even Romulan ships as captured bounty while sending all others who failed to surrender (or took too long to surrender) to their respective makers.

(It was a great night of fun and excitement! The two-ship operations were a blast!! Officers from age 9 to 47 took part, and all were able to fulfill their duties successfully. What a great game!!! Here is some video of our game tonight: http://youtu.be/nixDCVn79Ac)

Hey cool! You're using Martok's and my modification! Sweet. :D

That's pretty cool that you were able to play a game successfully with two ships. I wish my crew and I knew enough people to get two ships going at once. Looks like tons of fun.

It was a blast, and HUGE props to both you and Martok for the work you did with the Star Trek mod! We had a blast and have been playing often since we made this video.

On Friday evening, my two kids (both teenagers) and their two friends BEGGED me to play so I setup everything in our living room using our 64" flatscreen as our main screen (attached to a media PC). We used four TV dinner tables and four laptops for the stations, and everyone eagerly went to work. All but my son's friend had played with us before, so he was the only "green" crewmember. We quickly taught him how to do his jobs (science and engineering) and we made quite a few successful runs.

We ended up playing for about four hours (well into the morning hours) and all the kids asked if we could play again soon. I told them that indeed, we would. It's too much fun for me, too! It's great having an enthusiastic crew.

That's great! I'm just glad to be contributing to the enjoyment/spreading of Thom's game. It deserves all the attention it can get. Although you are making me wish I had a 64' TV . . . We still have to use our fifteen year old 32" CRT with a color problem.

(Also, thanks for the proverbial props. We appreciate it. :D )
