Seeking Crew/Captain

posted Feb 07, 2011 19:50:38 by RichardCoverdale
Hey all, I am checking this out. I am looking to find a crew to play with via Interweb. I would make a crew closer to home but no one around me wants to play.

If there are any established crews that need an extra man and don't mind me connecting via internet, send a message my way. (I am willing to help pay for the game if need be.)

OK, So my laptop is the server, and I have a desktop for one station at my house. How do I get 3 other stations to connect to me to play via internet?

Captain Wethington

PS I'll take on another Crew member when I get this part figured out....

We always just connect using the IP address of the server. Sometimes we have port issues or something. My old router was able to do it no problem with no setup, my new router we had to mess around with it a bit.

I've got a server set up for remote play. Assuming you have a home network like mine you need to give your remote players the IP address of your router and use port forwarding to forward anything on that port to the local address of your server.

If you like you can play on my Artemis server. In fact I'll be setting up a new Artemis server later this week and I'd like some remote players to help test it. Let me know if you're interested.

The new server was up and running as of last night. It's got a wired ethernet connection with plenty of bandwidth for multi-ship play. It works, but has a minor hardware problem. The server is supposed to be ceiling mounted beside the projector, but I don't have a mounting bracket yet. So to run my server I need to put it on a five foot stack of boxes.

It may take a few days for me to work out this little problem.

Tonight I'll be configuring the new port-forwarding on my network and debugging my latest mission script.
